Interest welcome for 12 Claremont and Eagle House!

Expressions of interest are being sought for two historical properties currently being renovated by community organisation Hastings Commons.

12 Claremont: INTEREST WELCOME

12 Claremont (next to the Library) is currently undergoing full renovation and will be completed in summer 2025.

Built in 1870 and originally a meeting place known as the Claremont Rooms, 12 Claremont has had many uses, including as an engraving studio, the town’s first telephone exchange, and auction rooms. The building’s unique character and legacy make it a perfect home for creativity and collaboration.

Once restored, 12 Claremont will be an inclusive creative hub, with a gallery run by Project Art Works confirmed for the ground floor.

The top floor of this magnificent building will offer an inspiring light-filled space ideal for creatives. We are open to diverse proposals but have a preference for arts or creative uses that align with the inclusive vision for the building and the community ethos of Hastings Commons.

If you are interested in this unique opportunity please send a brief proposal outlining your vision for the space and intended use. For further information or to arrange a site visit, please contact space@hastingscommons.com.

Eagle House: INTEREST WELCOME

Eagle House (opposite ESK) is currently undergoing full renovation and will be completed by summer 2025.

Built in 1867, Eagle House was the second hand department for Plummer Roddis (later Debenhams). It later became a family-run carpet shop for over 30 years. In 2021 Hastings Commons transformed the ground floor into the Common Room, a welcoming space for people from all walks of life. A year later the Hastings Youth Commons was launched. Now, with the support of the Towns Fund and the Youth Investment Fund, the building is being renovated as a youth and community hub.

The second floor of Eagle House offers large open spaces across two levels, available as separate units or one combined larger unit. They are self-contained with their own entrance, ensuring privacy and flexibility for tenants.

We are seeking tenants who value the chance to be based within a thriving youth and community hub and who will actively contribute to the ethos of collaboration, inclusivity and regeneration.

If you are interested in this unique opportunity please send a brief proposal outlining your vision for the space and intended use. For further information or to arrange a site visit, please contact space@hastingscommons.com.
