Hastings Commons is a pioneering approach to community-led regeneration, DIY-style. We own and manage a diverse set of buildings in the White Rock area of Hastings. We also serve as a beacon marking a different approach to development: for the community, by the community.

Since 2014 a set of difficult and derelict buildings in White Rock have been rescued and redeveloped with the aim of long-term community ownership. Hastings Commons CLT is working to build a strong organisation ready for that responsibility...will you join us?

A community land trust is a not-for-profit organisation through which local people can own assets like land and buildings together for the common good, forever.

Ownership by you and others in our community means these assets can stay relevant and responsive to local needs and interests.

There is strength in numbers and the more members we have, the closer we come to achieving our goals of:

  • Genuinely affordable homes across our buildings
  • More creative collaborative workspaces for local people
  • Permanent ownership of a sustainable portfolio of assets for future generations

As a Member

  • Have the opportunity to vote at our AGM
  • Have the right to stand as a Hastings Commons CLT trustee
  • Be the first to know when workspaces, flats and jobs are available
  • Receive our quarterly newsletter and have your say on key Commons decisions
  • Receive invitations to our special 'Commoners Rock' annual event and other CLT-only events in Commons spaces
