There are many ways to become involved at Hastings Commons. Become a ‘commoner’ as a tenant, employee, trustee or volunteer, or support the work by becoming a member of the Hastings Commons Community Land Trust.
Join as a member of the Hastings Commons CLT
Hastings Commons Community Land Trust is owned by our members. It is the democracy and engagement part of Hastings Commons, working to build a strong organisation ready for the long-term responsibility of holding community assets in perpetuity for local benefit. Find out more and join as a member for as little as £1.
Become a tenant
We welcome interest from prospective tenants in our co-working spaces, offices, shops, workshops and flats. All tenants are selected on the basis of need, local connection, enthusiasm for the ethos and a willingness to contribute; to be part of the collective life of the spaces and create a strong sense of community.
Hire a space
We have a number of hireable meeting spaces across Hastings Commons. These include the Board Room in the Observer Building, the project space at Rock House, the classroom/workshop at Rose Cottage and the Common Room in Eagle House.
While we rarely turn people away, we would encourage you to read our Event Booking and Venue Hire Policy before enquiring with us.
Hastings Heritage Forum (with funding from Historic England)
What matters to you from the past that you want to save and celebrate?
Share your memories of Hastings and hopes for the future at heritage@hastingscommons.com
If you are a professional in Hastings working within heritage or local history, we would love for you to be part of our heritage forum, working on a shared strategy for looking after heritage in Hastings. Get in touch with heritage@hastingscommons.com to register your interest and come to our regular meetings.
Become a trustee
Trustees are very important as they make the ultimate decisions about the Hastings Commons Community Land Trust. They serve on the Commons Board along with directors of Neighbourhood Ventures and a representative of our partner Project Art Works. The Commons Board steers the overall direction of the Hastings Commons.
Members of the CLT can put themselves forward as trustees.
More information about our current trustees can be seen here.
Volunteering
We could not do everything we do without the help of our wonderful volunteers, from anchoring for our public living room, the Common Room in Eagle House or helping run youth club sessions there is something for everyone if you have a little time to spare each week.
If you are interested in giving your time and skills as a volunteer or in another way, please contact us to discuss options.
